Police search for suspect following armed robbery in Chelmsford

CHELMSFORD, Mass. — Police are searching for a suspect believed to be in his late teens or early 20s who was allegedly involved in an armed robbery at the New World Gas Station at 273 Littleton Road in Chelmsford Saturday night.

The Chelmsford Police Department confirmed to Boston 25 News officers were alerted to Littleton Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. for reports of a robbery. Upon arrival, police spoke to the store clerk, who said that a moment earlier, a man wearing a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and a black mask approached the clerk with a machete, demanding money from the cash register.

The clerk complied with the demand, and the suspect reportedly left the scene on foot. The clerk saw the suspect run across the street towards a parking lot at 270 Littleton Road, toward a black sedan. Later, the clerk saw the sedan heading inbound toward the center of Chelmsford, police say.

There were no other customers in the storm at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported. Chelmsford Police are reviewing camera footage of the incident.
