Woman shot on MBTA bus, police investigating

BOSTON — A woman was rushed to the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound on an MBTA bus Friday evening.

According to MBTA Transit Police, officers found a 60-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her abdomen at 5: 25 p.m.

The victim was conscious and alert when she was rushed to the hospital and her wounds are considered non-life-threatening.

Boston 25 News cameras caught MBTA Transit Police officers investigating the taped-off bus near the Andrew ‘T’ Station.

Transit Police acknowledge the shooting may have been accidental but have not made any arrests at this time

Around 8:40 p.m., Transit Police asked for public help to identify a man they are looking to question about the incident.

Malachi Flerimone didn’t see or hear the shooting but experienced the chaos afterward.

“And then everybody just started running off,” said Flerimone. “We didn’t hear the gun shot we just heard all the commotion.”

Riders told Boston 25 News they found the ordeal “disturbing.”

“It’s a little crazy because I do have to rely on it to go back and forth to work,” said Kathleen Grafton. “Are we going to have to have cops on the bus now? Like it is a little disturbing.”

Those with information about the shooting are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Unit at 617-222-1050.
