Police investigating after multiple people stabbed at a home on Doane Road in Medford

MEDFORD, Mass. — Police are investigating after multiple people were hurt in a stabbing outside a home on Doane Road in Medford Monday night, according to police.

Medford police responded to 22 Doane Road just after 9:00 p.m. for reports that a family member attacked another family member inside the home. This victim was forced out of the home to the front yard where she was physically assaulted and forced to the ground and stabbed, according to police. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

Police said when other household members saw what was happening they rushed to help the victim. The attacker then grabbed the household member and tried to force her to leave with him but when she broke free she was stabbed multiple times. Police say the second victim suffers non-life-threatening injuries.

A third female who witnessed the attack yelled for the attacker to stop but then he focused on the witness and stabbed her at least 3 times. Her injuries are more serious and require surgery, police said.

Upon the arrival of the responding officers, the victims and witnesses believed their attacker was still in the house. The officers searched the house and the surrounding area with assistance from the Malden Police K-9.

The suspect was located and placed under arrest at South Station by the Transit Police early on Tuesday morning. The suspect was then brought to Somerville District Court by Medford Police.

He will be arraigned in Somerville District Court Tuesday morning.

Alfredo Vilar, the uncle of the alleged suspect, told Boston 25 News that this violent outburst from his nephew came out of nowhere.

“He started stabbing his mother, his sister came out to try to help the mother and she got stabbed, and then a neighbor who tried to intervene got stabbed,” according to the uncle of the alleged suspect. “This was out of the blue there was no argument there was no nothing so I don’t know he just went ballistic for some reason I don’t know why.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
