Payday: Man visiting MA for work hits lottery for $4 million

BOSTON — A man visiting Massachusetts from Georgia has quite the story to tell his co-workers after striking it rich with an instant ticket.

Jovon Garner of Brunswick, GA is the first $4 million prize winner in the Lottery’s “$4,000,000 Diamonds” game.

Garner told lottery officials he decided to play that particular game because he liked the design of the ticket. Those tickets cost $10 each.

Garner bought his winning ticket at the Stop & Shop on Main St. in Stoneham.

He decided to take a one-time payment of $2,600,000 before taxes.

Garner said he plan to use some of his cash to buy a new vehicle and a new shed. The Stop and Shop will also receive a $40,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
