North Andover crews rescue fox from sewage grate cover

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — A fox was rescued from a less than ideal situation in North Andover, Thursday, after it found itself stuck in a sewage grate cover.

The North Andover Fire Department responded following a call to 911 about the stuck fox. Crews removed the grate and “carefully transported [the fox] while stuck in the grate to Bulger Veterinary Hospital” according to a post on the North Andover Facebook page.

The fox, which is named “Rey” according to officials, was able to be sedated and removed from the grate. Once removed, Dr. Stephen McGrath and Vet Tech Alexa “provided some IV Fluids and antibiotics” according to the post.

Rey will be rehabilitated at the Tufts Wildlife Clinic, and eventually released back into the wild near “the area where she was found.”
