LOWELL, Mass. — The good, the bad and the ugly. Three faces of a snowfall jackpot in Lowell. The city was buried under two feet of snow. That’s the most to fall in any Massachusetts city or town from Monday’s Nor’Easter.
Felicia Coutu is definitely in the good category. Not only was she enjoying a day of sledding with her children, but she didn’t have to dig out.
“The kids are having a blast,” said Coutu.
She is too.
“It’s nice, I don’t have to shovel,” said Coutu.
Katie Thuotte said she’s taking it in stages.
“We’ve been digging out all morning,” said Thuotte, whose car was buried and plowed in on top of that. She was trying to clear it away before it froze and turned white fluffy snow to something closer to an icy cement.
With only six inches of snow on the ground, Thuotte said she went to sleep not thinking the storm was that bad. But she awoke to a Winter Wonderland.
“It was pretty light for a while and when you woke up this morning you couldn’t find anybody’s car,” Thuotte said.
Plow drivers even admit this is a jackpot.
“Two feet of snow, that’s a lot of snow,” said Mike McLaughlin of Chelmsford.
Wally Flannery of Lowell agrees. And he said he is happy with his recent purchase of a snow blower.
“It makes it easier. Best $100 I ever spent,” he said.
