REVERE, Mass. — If you’re looking for somewhere to watch Argentina and France face off in the World Cup Final, look no further than Shirley Ave. in Revere.
The neighborhood has 30 storefronts and 16 spoken languages, but one thing they all have in common is a shared interest and passion for soccer.
Four immigrant-owned restaurants in the area will be hosting watch parties for the World Cup Final Sunday.
The participating restaurants are:
- Las Delicias Colombianas, 86 Shirley Ave., Revere, MA
- F&J Juice Bar Café, 76 Shirley Ave., Revere, MA
- Valsos Table and Bar, 139 Shirley Ave., Revere, MA
- Sabrine Bakery & Café, 91 Centennial Ave., Revere, MA
Each restaurant is offering a $5 coupon to the first 20 patrons through the door.
“The restaurants’ leadership in hosting these viewing parties is a wonderful example of how small businesses working together help define the culture of a place,” said Laura Christopher, the organizer of the event. “In Shirley Ave.’s case, as a vibrant, diverse neighborhood full of people looking for ways to connect with and give back to their community.”
This event is hosted by Revere’s Shirley Ave. TDI Partnership, which includes Women Encouraging Empowerment, The Neighborhood Developers, Mass General Hospital and Revere CARES, the City of Revere, and MassDevelopment’s Transformative Development Initiative.
