DANVERS, Mass. — The outlook is dim for a Light N Leisure store north of Boston, but the owners of a small, well-known chain of lighting stores says the company’s future remains bright.

Light N Leisure, known from their advertisements for being in “the purple buildings” is closing its Danvers location.

“After 40+ years in Danvers, the time has come to close this location,” said owner Bill Greenberg. “We will still be here bigger and better than ever online, on the phone, and in our other locations where we can serve the needs of today’s consumers more efficiently.”

The Danvers location will be clearing out inventory over the next few months from its 7,000-square-foot space.

Loyal customers will receive a 7-day advance notice of the kick-off sale, including extra discounts on selections that will not be available once the sale is announced to the public, according to a statement from the company.

“We have tons of great quality, brand name lighting and ceiling fans in stock at discount prices,” said VP of Operations Nathaniel C. “We’ve taken the typical home furnishings experience and stripped it down to the bare necessities to give you a better experience at a far greater value.”

Light N Leisure was founded in 1970. The company says it will continue to operate its stores in Milford and Kingston, and online.
