Here is every handicap-accessible beach in Mass.

The joys of summer are for everyone. And that includes catching some rays at the beach.

Here is every beach accessible to those with physical disabilities in Massachusetts.

Carson Beach, South Boston: The three-mile shoreline has a paved pedestrian walkway that runs from Castle Island to the Kennedy Library. There is also a bathhouse, an accessible fishing pier, beach mat and beach wheelchairs available.

Constitution Beach, East Boston: Looking out over Boston Harbor, this Eastie beach has an accessible bath house, r a pavilion with picnic tables, a beach mat, and beach wheelchairs. Not a bad place to watch the airplanes at Logan take off either.

Ashland State Park, Ashland: “A paved path leads from parking to the accessible bathhouse, and onto a concrete platform with seating at the edge of the Ashland Reservoir”, says Mass.gov. There are also steps with a ramp leading into the water.

Nahant Beach Reservation, Nahant: A boardwalk runs parallel to Long Beach, offering a scenic stroll. Wheelchairs can be provided and there are two accessible bathhouses.

Revere Beach, Revere: There is a promenade, a bandstand, a bathhouse, shade shelters, and beach wheelchairs available on this 2.5-mile long Beach. There is a beach mat near the Shirly Avenue bathhouse.

Salisbury Beach State Reservation, Salisbury: There are boardwalks over the dunes and beach mats to both the ocean and the Merrimac River. All three bath houses are accessible.

Houghton’s Pond, Blue Hills Reservation, Milton: “An interpretive boardwalk provides an accessible route down to the beach and bath house,” writes Mass.gov.

Demarest Lloyd State Park, Dartmouth: A beach mat and beach wheelchairs provide access to this rocky beach.

Fort Phoenix State Reservation, Fairhaven: “A boardwalk transitions to a beach mat for access to the beach. An accessible bath house and beach wheelchairs are also available,” Mass.gov

Horseneck Beach State Reservation, Westport: Two miles of shoreline are accessible from a paved route between the dunes and beach mat. Beach wheelchairs are also available. “The surf conditions at Horseneck Beach usually prevent you from using floating beach chairs in the water. Please check with the lifeguards on duty at the beach about using chairs in the water,” warns Mass.gov.

Myles Standish State Forest, Carver: The Fearing Pond Day Use Area has a beach mat that runs out to edge of the water.

Scusset Beach State Reservation, Sandwich: This beach has a beach mat, beach wheelchairs, and an accessible bath house on Cape Cod Bay. There is also a fishing pier sitting on the Cape Cod Canal.

South Cape Beach State Park, Mashpee: “Enjoy a boardwalk and a viewing platform, along with beach mat and two beach wheelchairs,” writes Mass.gov

Erving State Forest, Erving: For those of us that prefer lakes to oceans, this patch of sand has handrails and a beach mat leading to the water.

Lake Wyola State Park, Shutesbury: A boardwalk next to the beach offers access to the water for fishing alongside a beach mat into the water.
