Efforts underway to secure community input to re-design Clifford Park

BOSTON — Efforts are underway to secure community input to re-design Clifford Park in Boston.

Boston 25 News has been reporting on the complaints involving littered needles, open drug use, and human feces at Clifford Park for over five years.

A meeting of the minds in Roxbury’s Clifford Park happened on Saturday morning over the growing concerns about the park, near where student-athletes practice football.

“We don’t have any set plans for what this park is going to be. Recreational programming is definitely an objective that we have,” said Cathy Baker-Eclipse the Director of the Capital Plan Boston Parks and Recreation.

Boston Bengals Pop Warner coach Domingos DaRosa says that as of last week, the team has lost 8 players due to the condition at the park and parents not feeling safe letting their children practice there.

The 2023 season of Boston Bengals football is still in jeopardy due to ongoing health hazards.

“We want to set a perimeter for the park, enclose it, have access points,” DaRosa says.

City officials say changes are coming with a potential construction bid out for next summer for the park renovation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
