LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Part of Interstate 93 in New Hampshire was shut down Tuesday afternoon after power lines fell on the highway as heavy snow blasted the area.
The downed power lines forced the closure of the northbound side of the highway at Exit 4 and the southbound side at Exit 5 in Londonderry, according to New Hampshire State Police.
The northbound lanes were reopened just after 1:30 p.m. The southbound lanes are expected to reopen around 2 p.m.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area and stay off all roads if possible due to the treacherous conditions.
Earlier in the day, state police reported more than 120 crashes and vehicles off roadways between 5 a.m. and 12 p.m.
UPDATE - I-93 Northbound has been reopened; Southbound will be reopened in approximately 15 minutes.
