Although the Sixers game into Game 2 sporting a 1-0 lead and with a freshly minted MVP as reinforcements, the Celtics buried Philadelphia behind a hot streak of shooting and a more concerted effort to attack the paint.
Five different players, including two reserves, registered double-digit point totals as Boston cruised to the 121-87 victory.
Jaylen Brown had the hot hand early, shooting 5-of-6 for 13 points in the first quarter. After being phased out of the offense after a similarly hot first quarter in Game 1, Boston kept feeding their star wing Wednesday and Brown finished the night with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.
Brown’s running mate, Jayson Tatum, only contributed 7 points and one made field goal, but at least 12 points from the quartet of Malcolm Brogdon, Derrick White, Grant Williams and Marcus Smart was more than enough for the victory.
After 16 turnovers in Game 1, Boston tightened up their offense Wednesday, only losing control of the rock 6 times compared to Philadelphia’s 11.
Al Horford had a paltry shooting night, finishing the night 2-for-10
Game 3 will be held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night.
