Brockton PD: Two people shot, pregnant woman seriously injured

BROCKTON, Mass. — Brockton Police say two people were shot in the city on Tuesday night.

Officers were called to 622 North Main Street shortly after 5 p.m. for reports of a woman shot. Several units responded, including Brockton Fire and the contracted ambulance service.

At the scene, authorities found a man and a woman both suffering from gunshot wounds.

The woman had to be transported to a Boston hospital in a MedFlight. Her condition is unknown at this time. A police source tells Boston 25 the woman was six months pregnant. Her other children, who were unharmed, were taken to the hospital as well as a precaution.

“The children were in the house,” said Dennis Hursey, a neighbor. “She never had any problems with anybody.”

The other victim’s injury is not considered life-threatening. He is expected to survive.

Police told Boston 25 News they are questioning that man who was also found shot.

“I saw the kids crying, asking for their mom, ‘Where is my mom, I want to see my mom,’" said Ondina Alves. “The only thing I saw was the cops and the fireman, I heard the noise and came outside."

No other injuries were reported. Officials continue to investigate this incident.
