95-year-old drowns in Ipswich River Tuesday

IPSWICH, Mass. — A 95-year-old Ipswich man drowned in the Ipswich River Tuesday afternoon, local police confirmed to Boston 25 News.

One person dialed 911 after that man, later identified as Ross Hamlin, was unresponsive at the Little Nech Association Dock on the river just before 2 p.m. The caller and Harbor Patrol attempted to resuscitate the man, who was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Foul play is not suspected, but local police are investigating along with the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
