25 Investigates: 12-year-old dies at DCF-contracted residential program

FITCHBURG, Mass. — 25 Investigates has learned that a 12-year-old girl, who was in the care of the Department of Children and Families, has died.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s office is investigating the unattended death, which is standard procedure.

According to sources, the girl was found unresponsive on Saturday at the Bridge Home, a residential placement in Fitchburg.

The Bridge Home is a program through Luk Inc.

According to its website, Bridge Home provides children up to age of 12 and their families with services such as residential placement, stabilization, case management, crisis and behavioral management, as well as assessment, clinical services and reintegration.

25 Investigates reached out to Luk Inc., which referred all questions to the police.

The Office of the Child Advocate tells 25 Investigates they are aware of the situation.
