2 people hospitalized following single-vehicle crash in Mashpee

MASHPEE, Mass. — A single-vehicle crash on Great Oak Road in the area of Mashpee’s Quinn’s Way late Saturday night resulted in two people being hospitalized.

The Mashpee Police Department told Boston 25 News officers were first alerted to the accident at approximately 10:23 p.m. Upon arrival, they observed a black Range Rover, extremely damaged on the passenger side as a result of striking a tree.

After further investigation, officers believe the Range Rover was traveling eastbound on Great Oak Road and failed to negotiate a curve, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle before crashing into a tree.

The male passenger was sent to Falmouth Hospital but was later sent via-MedFlight to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with life-threatening injuries. The driver was sent to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, and Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Unit.
