WALTHAM, Mass. — Two people are being charged after an overnight crash into a utility police in Waltham.
According to Waltham police, officers on patrol observed two vehicles—a white Volkswagen GTI and a black BMW M340XI—traveling at high speed southbound on Crescent Street.
Moments later, both cars crashed into properties at 395/397 and 403 Crescent Street, causing significant damage to property and a utility pole.
Three males fled the scene on foot, police say.
One passenger was found at the scene and treated for minor injuries.
Officers were able to find the driver of the Volkswagen, an 18-year-old man from New Hampshire. He was arrested and charged with possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card (FID), operating under the influence of alcohol (first offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and speeding.
The driver declined further medical treatment after being evaluated by EMTs.
Police were later able to arrest the driver of the BMW, a 19-year-old man from Burlington. He is facing charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and speeding.
Eversource responded to the scene to begin repairs on the damaged utility pole.
