10 people displaced after fire tears through waterfront building in Gloucester

GLOUCESTER, Mass. — Ten people were displaced after a multi-alarm fire tore through a waterfront building in Gloucester on Thursday morning.

Crews responding to a report of a fire at Beacon Marine Basin at 211 East Main Street around 7 a.m. found heavy smoke pouring out of the building.

The smoke was first observed in the basement and quickly extended to the roof, according to the Gloucester Fire Department.

Video from the scene showed firefighters using a ladder truck to combat the flames.

Everyone was able to escape the building and there were no reported injuries.

The Red Cross assisting those who were displaced by the fire.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is assisting Gloucester fire officials with an investigation.
