BRIGHTON, Mass. — The head of Boston's Inspectional Services Department has followed through on his pledge to eat at the city's embattled Cleveland Circle Chipotle location.
The Boston Globe reports Commissioner William Christopher dined with his chief of staff, Indiara Alvarez, on Monday after the franchise was reopened over the weekend.
The restaurant was closed on Dec. 7 after 136 patrons, many of them Boston College students, fell ill with norovirus.
Christopher says he's pleased that the franchise took the necessary steps to meet the city's strict health code standards.
Sticking to his carb-free diet, the commissioner ordered a bowl with steak, chicken, peppers, onions and lettuce.
Christopher says he hadn't eaten at Chipotle in years, but the food was "wonderful" and he experienced no side effects.
