MUNCIE, Ind. — An Indiana man was arrested after allegedly killing animals inside his home.
Friday morning, the suspect’s mother called 911. She told police that she was away from her home for about 30 minutes and when she returned, she found the pet rabbit and kitten inside the wood stove.
Detectives believe Clinton Ricker, 32, shot his mother's pet rabbit, Caramel, and her kitten, and then put them in the wood burning stove.
“We see a decent amount of neglect cases, left out in the cold, not fed, beaten but executed and incinerated is not anything in 8 years I’ve been around I’ve heard of,” said Det. Kyle Monroe of the Muncie Police Department.
According to court paperwork, Ricker admitted to detectives he threw the rabbit in the stove out of mercy 'because it had a tumor and all he was trying to do was get rid of it.’ Ricer's mother told detectives Caramel wasn't sick.
The kitten was just a few months old, it didn't even have a name yet. Ricker didn't give any reason behind its death, according to the court paperwork.
