Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is the governor with the highest approval rating in the country, according to a new poll.
Based on interviews with registered voters from April 1 to July 10, Charlie Baker has a 71 percent approval rating, 17 disapproval rating and the last 12 percent undecided.
The results come from the digital media polling firm Morning Consult, based in Washington, DC. The firm surveyed 195,704 voters to get the latest governor approval rankings.
The poll asked whether or not the registered voter approved or disapproval of the job performance of:
- President Donald Trump
- Their state's governor
- Their U.S. senators
- Their U.S. House representative
- Their mayor
For each question, they could answer answer "strongly approve, somewhat approve, somewhat disapprove, strongly disapprove, or don’t know / no opinion."
Morning Consult said they received details for registered voters from a November 2012 population survey; the firm in turn applied stratification based on gender, age, education and race.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie had the highest disapproval rating, with 69 percent saying they disapproved. Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy had the third highest disapproval rating with 64 percent and Maine Gov. Paul LePage had the ninth highest at 48 percent.
