Family grieves for woman found dead at Bridgewater train tracks

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The family of a 29-year-old woman whose body was found at the Bridgewater train tracks has no idea who was behind her murder.

"She was just very fun loving, beautiful, cared about everyone, never wanted to see anyone fighting," said her sister, Dawn Hoyte.

Last week, police were called to the Bridgewater train tracks for a report of a suspicious car and when they arrived, they discovered something burning.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and discovered it was a body. On Saturday, police confirmed that it was Ashley Bortner and said they believe the murder was targeted.

Hoyte said Bortner moved to Southern New England from New Jersey three years ago. She's the youngest of five siblings.

Ashley Bortner was a single mother who leaves behind a 13-year-old son. According to public records, her last known address was on Tacoma Street in Hyde Park. Before that, she lived in Providence, Rhode Island. Public records also show that Bortner went by Ashley Demaurez, a name she used on Facebook and other social media accounts.

Hoyte said police identified her sister by her tattoos.

"We thank everyone for their support, but at this point we would like to be left alone and grieve," she said.

The family is working to raise money to bring Bortner's body back to New Jersey for a funeral and have started a GoFundMe page.
