Endicott College student hit, killed on Route 128 in Beverly

BEVERLY, Mass. — A 20-year-old Endicott College student was hit and killed on Route 128 north in Beverly late Monday night, according to Massachusetts State Police.

State police said the crash occurred near Exit 18 around midnight.

According to the preliminary investigation it appears as though the victim, who has been identified by Endicott College as Timothy Glendinning, of Boxford, was in the left lane when he was hit and killed.

"The community is profoundly saddened by his loss and our deepest sympathies are with the Glendinning family," the college said in a statement. "(Tuesday) we will have a candlelight vigil to mourn Timothy’s passing and to celebrate the friendship that so many on campus shared with him."

State police said he was also carrying a skateboard. Whether he was riding the skateboard or carrying it at the time he was killed is part of the investigation, state police said.

The driver who hit the victim, who has been identified as a 55-year-old Florida man, stopped after the incident and is cooperating with police.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity will be withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation.
