Early morning 2-alarm fire damages renovated Wellesley home

WELLESLEY, Mass. — A two-alarm fire broke out Sunday around 4:15 a.m. in Wellesley, but no one was hurt, police said.

Flames billowed from the roof and most of the damage is outside of the home on the front left side. When firefighters arrived, they upgraded it to two alarms.

"It was reported from a neighbor across the street, they could see heavy fire showing," said deputy chief Charles Digiamdomenico of the Wellesley Fire Department. "They quickly got the company's responding. [The] first company on arrival witnessed heavy fire from the front of the house."

He added that more companies came in for second-alarm coverage, and they put the fire out.

The homeowners live down the street and were renovating the house to sell.

The fire Marshall's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
