Connick: expect the unexpected from "Idol" team

BOSTON (AP) - Harry Connick Jr., the newest "American Idol" judge, says in Boston to "expect the unexpected" from him, Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban.

The judges spoke at a tryout Wednesday for the FOX show's new season.

"I think the whole fun of it is not knowing what to expect," said Connick.

The jazz singer and musician has been an "Idol" mentor. Lopez was a judge in 2011 and 2012. Urban was a judge last season with bickering divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.

Lopez was asked if she has advice for Connick. Urban joked, "Yeah, shut the hell up" as Lopez also said "less talking." Urban added that no talking "won't 'twerk'."

Connick said the focus Lopez and Urban give to contestants makes it exciting for viewers "because they think that you are vested - which we are."
