Coast Guard locates missing boaters and dog off eastern seaboard

JAMESTOWN, R.I. — The United States Coast Guard has announced that they've located two missing boaters and a puppy who sailed from Jamestown, R.I. on October 23. The trio were found 100 miles east of Cape Henry, Va., according to a tweet from the Coast Guard on Monday afternoon.

Ryan Hollis, 40, was heading for Norfolk, Virginia after sailing out of Jamestown on his 43-foot Benneteau sailboat named Carol K. His ultimate destination was Miami, according to the United States Coast Guard.

They also confirmed that Joshua Kane Cairone and a Frenchie dog named Louis were also onboard the boat. The Coast Guard also mentioned that the trio do intend to continue sailing to Cape Hatteras, N.C.

A Facebook post last Wednesday on Joshua Kane's page showed a picture and caption saying they were 12 nautical miles south of Newport, R.I. That post was shared by the Coast Guard one day into their search for the group, which came to an end a day later.
