Boston Police looking to ID person of interest in Back Bay shooting investigation

BOSTON — Boston Police are seeking the public’s help trying to locate a man who is a person of interest in the August 21 shooting on Fairfield Street in the highly popular and high-end Back Bay. It’s unclear what part that second person played when gunfire erupted on Fairfield Street, but it was definitely a chaotic night.

“We were sitting at the restaurant and I heard two gunshots,” one witness told Boston 25 News reporter Drew Karedes on the night of the shooting. “I assumed it was a car backfire. And then people came running from the street with fear on their faces yelling, ‘run!’ And then multiple gunshots followed right after and everyone ran.”

When those shots were fired, people who live and work in the Back Bay ran for cover. A man was firing shots down Fairfield Street reportedly at a vehicle. Bullets hit car windows and store windows, shattering them. Panicked people ran while others dropped to the ground.

One person, 29-year-old Brandon Sicard, of Boston, was previously arrested. He faces several charges including assault with a dangerous weapon and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

As for the man police are looking to speak with, Boston Police are hoping someone will recognize him. The part he played in the chaos is unclear but one local business owner tells Boston 25 he hopes police find him.

“It is very crazy, but I still have to work here and pay rent. I’m not gonna close my shop because of one shooting, the best I can do is increase my camera security, and if they come to my store, I get whatever I can to keep myself safe,” said Eric Lian of Boston.

Anyone with information about the person’s identity or shooting should call 617-343-5619.
