MANCHESTER, NH (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Four were arrested Friday after family members helped an inmate in N.H. escape from custody.
David Ward walked away from the minimum security Calumet House in Manchester, N.H. on Monday and police say he was considered a danger to law enforcement and the public. An investigation was launched and police learned that the 47-year-old did not act alone.
Sarah A. Ward, 25, and Kathryn Ward, 42, both of W. Swanzey, NH were arrested after allegedly transporting David in the trunk of their car and hiding him in their home. Both were charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution.
Lee Bates, 29, of Keene, NH was also charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution for providing transportation to David. They have all been released on personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned in Keene.
Police continued to search for David and learned that he may be at a home in Vermont. At about 8:10 p.m. Friday, members of the Vermont State Police took him into custody at a Vernon, Vermont home. He was armed with a .38 caliber hand gun that was reported stolen in Swanzey, N.H. He will be held as a fugitive from justice pending his return to the Granite State.
