BOSTON — Police say the body of a man found dead inside a car at the entrance to a Boston hospital early Thursday is connected to a shooting in the city's Dorchester neighborhood.
Officers responded to a call for shots fired at 58 Percival St. around 12:45 a.m. and found damaged vehicles and evidence of bullets at the scene, but no victims, according to a Boston police news release.
A call came in 10 minutes later about a walk-in gunshot wound victim at Boston Medical Center, police said. A man with gunshot wounds was found dead inside a car parked riddled with bullet holes at the emergency room entrance and another man was getting treated for gunshot wounds inside the hospital for injuries police said are not life-threatening.
It's unclear who the driver of the vehicle was.
Police have not released the name of the man who was found dead.
A black vehicle with several apparent bullet holes in the door and windshield area was seen parked at the entrance with a large police presence gathered around it.
The car was eventually towed from the scene around 3 a.m.
Police are investigating the fatal shooting and are asking anyone with information to call BPD homicide detectives at 617-343-4470.
