Man killed in Mattapan is area's fourth homicide this month

BOSTON — A man was shot and killed in Mattapan Friday afternoon, according to police.

The man was shot multiple times on Doone Avenue, what police say is a quiet, residential street.

Police said the victim is in his 40s. The shooting may have stemmed from a domestic dispute, police told FOX25.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said this is the city's 18th homicide this year and the fourth in this area this month.

He hopes that change will come soon as 53 recruits graduate from the police academy next week.

"All of them are going to go to Mattapan, Dorchester, and Roxbury and put in some of these hot spots where we've had all the shootings," Evans told FOX25.

Police told FOX25 that a warrant has been issued for a home on the street in connection with the shooting.
