Trio arrested for drug trafficking in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass. — State Police arrested three people on drug trafficking charges on Monday afternoon in Worcester, according to an official release from the agency. Cathia Gonzalez, 26, Jose Martinez-Cepeda, 33, and Veronica Gonzalez-Acosta, 41 – all of Worcester – were arrested around 3 p.m. that afternoon.

The detainment occurred after officers stopped the three in a car on Worcester’s Belmont Street.

Upon investigation, police officials found the trio in possession of approximately one kilogram of narcotics, which police believed to be cocaine. Martinez-Cepeda was also found with 15 pills in his possession, which officials labeled as a Class E controlled substance.

All were charged with cocaine trafficking and conspiracy to violate drug law. Gonzalez also faces a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Police also charged Martinez-Cepeda with possession of class B and E drugs.

The trio were all held on $50,000 bail, pending an arraignment in Worcester District Court.
