Officers arrested Gogineni Rayudu on Wednesday after police said he walked into a Cobb County family’s home through an unlocked door and closed it behind him, WSB-TV reported. He was allegedly wearing gloves at the time.

“My boyfriend was right there and he came walking out, like, ‘Excuse me? Who are you?’” Cassioppia Cea, the child’s mother, told the station. “I tried to keep my distance at first because I didn’t know if he had a weapon on him.”

Cea’s daughter attends Powers Ferry Elementary school, and Rayudu is a new driver on her bus route, WSB-TV reported. Rayudu has been driving on the route for approximately two months, and Cea said that he had previously asked her daughter inappropriate questions and said he was her friend if she needed someone to confide in.

“Everything in my gut was telling me something was seriously wrong,” Cea told WSB-TV. “If I hadn’t been there, what would have happened?”

Cea said that when she started asking Rayudu questions, he left the house.

Rayudu’s neighbor, Gail George, told WSB-TV that she saw a police officer sitting in her neighbor’s driveway on Wednesday, but did not know why.

“I’m shocked. I’m really shocked because they stay over there,” George told the station. “They mind their own business. I didn’t know he drove a school bus and I wondered what he did because his car is home strange times. … He’s just very quiet.”

Cea’s neighbors told WSB-TV they had seen Rayudu in the neighborhood and said that he had asked about Cea’s daughter and another young girl.

Rayudu was charged with burglary and loitering. He will not be driving a school bus in Cobb County pending the outcome of an investigation, WSB-TV reported.
