Thief steals gift meant for Worcester Army Guardsman's baby girl

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Worcester Police are looking for a thief who stole a gift for an Army National Guardsman’s 4-month-old daughter.

The thief smashed the back window of a car in the parking lot behind the condos on Elizabeth Street sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning.

"I came out to go to work [Monday] morning and saw the window smashed in with one package outside the car on the ground and the gift from my unit stolen," Guardsman Frank Paladino told Boston 25 News.

The gift from Paladino’s unit was for his baby girl.

"I don't know what the gift was exactly, but from what I was told, it was something like a stroller-type toy for when she started to walk," said Paladino.

The thief also unwrapped another gift that was in the car, stealing the golf gear inside and leaving the wrapping paper and box on the ground. The gift included a Titleist hat and t-shirt, golf balls, tees and a custom-made golf ball with the Military police emblem on it.

Worcester Police confirm to Boston 25 News they're investigating.
