Norfolk Police discover marijuana grow house, arrest homeowner

NORFOLK, Mass. — Police discovered a marijuana grow house Monday while executing a search warrant at a home in Norfolk.

Officers arrived at the home on Harlow Avenue around 8:30 a.m. The homeowner, Alan Rovinelli, answered the door. He was placed in handcuffs and seated in the living room for the duration of the search.

Police said they discovered more than 50 marijuana plants, in different stages of maturity, in three separate rooms. Under Massachusetts law, up to a dozen plants can be grown in a home with two or more adults.

Police said each of the rooms also contained special lighting and cooling systems for growing marijuana. There were also several types of fertilizers and chemicals designed for growing and cultivating marijuana, as well as two pneumatic presses and other equipment consistent with the manufacturing of marijuana extract.

Throughout the home, police found marijuana packaged in plastic bags and glass mason jars. A scale and $300 in cash were also seized.

Following the search, police arrested Rovinelli and charged him with possession with intent to manufacture, distribute, dispense or cultivate a Class D controlled substance. He was arraigned in Wrentham District Court.

Norfolk Police were assisted by the Norfolk County Police Anti-Crime Task Force, a regional detective task force.
