Mass. State Police cruiser struck by driver in Braintree

BRAINTREE, Mass. — An unoccupied Massachusetts State Police cruiser was struck by car on Route 93 in Braintree.

The cruiser was parked blocking the right lane at the scene of a car fire north of Exit 5, and was hit by a suspected drunk driver, police say.

There were no injuries in the accident.

Winston McGhee, 34, of Rockland was charged in the incident with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to move over for an emergency vehicle.

McGhee was also charged with a marked lanes violation and presenting false identifying information to police.
