Manchester Police: 460 tips received in Harmony Montgomery case

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Manchester investigators have received around 460 tips in the Harmony Montgomery case, an increase of 160 from last week, a police dept. spokesperson said Monday. The reward for information related to the 7-year-old’s disappearance jumped to $137,000 Friday, after an anonymous donor in Washington State pledged $25,000, police said.

It’s easy to be reminded about the case driving through Manchester: Harmony’s picture is on electronic billboards. Flyers are taped up on street corners and convenience store windows. The mystery surrounding the girl’s disappearance hangs over the city like a cloud.

“It’s everywhere. It’s on the news all the time. It’s been on our local news station every day. My wife and I talk about it all the time with our kids and taking precautions,” Manchester father Andrew McDonald said. McDonald walked his 9-year-old daughter into hockey practice at West Side Ice Arena Monday night, three miles from the Gilford St. home where investigators searched for clues in Harmony’s disappearance.

“It’s just a sad story,” McDonald said. “It seems like the community has come together. A lot of business leaders have stepped in and put a lot of money on the table to try and figure out what happened.”

Manchester Police announced Harmony was missing Dec. 31. According to investigators, the girl was last seen by police during a call for service at 77 Gilford St. in October 2019. Since that time, no one has been able to trace her whereabouts. Harmony’s father, Adam Montgomery, and Adam’s estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, remain in custody on charges unrelated to Harmony’s disappearance.

Manchester Police Chief Allen D. Aldenberg said Jan. 3 he is operating under the assumption Harmony is alive.

“Until somebody shows me something that she’s not [alive], we are in rescue mode right now. This is not a recovery. All efforts are focused on that Harmony is alive and we’re going to do everything we can to find her in that condition,” Aldenberg said during the Jan. 3 news conference.

Brandon Brooks, owner of New England Dieselz in Hillsboro, pledged $5,000 to the reward last week.

“I think that number hitting [$100,000], I think that was a huge number and I think that’s what cracked everything open. Everybody knows about [the case] now,” Brooks said. “It does make me feel good. Hopefully more people get involved. It’s making national news and the more people that know the quicker she’s going to be found.”

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Manchester, New Hampshire Police Tip Line at 603-203-6060. That line is monitored 24 hours a day and tips can be sent via text or call.
