Rower who left Cape Cod to cross Atlantic Ocean in June arrives in France

A months-long solo mission to row across the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Cod to France has officially been completed by one French man. Guirec Soudée left Chatham in mid-June and arrived in northwestern France on Friday, according to a post to his Facebook account.

Soudée has been sailing the world since his early 20s. In 2013, he became the youngest person to sail to Alaska with a four-month stopover in Greenland, the AP wrote when he began his voyage back in June. In December 2020, he rowed from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean in 74 days but he capsized twice.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
