Employee at Stop & Shop in Kingston tests positive for COVID-19

KINGSTON, Mass. — A part-time employee at the Stop and Shop in Kingston has tested positive for COVID-19, company spokeswoman Jennifer Brogan confirmed to Boston 25 News.

Brogan said the store has been cleaned and sanitized in accordance with all federal, state and local public health guidelines.

Company policy requires employees who had been in close contact with the infected associate to self-quarantine, Brogan said. The employees will continue to be paid during this time.

Brogan said the associate will not return to work until confirmed to be no longer contagious for COVID-19.

“We are continuing to insist that all associates who feel sick at any time stay home,” Brogan said.

Boston 25 News reached out to the Kingston Board of Health for comment. Interim Town Administrator Gloria Mitchell responded and said the town’s health department wasn’t aware of any positive COVID-19 cases at Stop and Shop.

Kingston is one of 40 Massachusetts cities and towns the state considers at high risk for COVID-19.
