DPW crews in Framingham prepare for winter storm

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — It’s all hands on deck at the DPW in Framingham for the first time all winter. This area is expecting four to six inches of snow overnight - the most so far this season.

“This is going to be our first real challenge because we really haven’t worked out the bugs as we would normally do in a January or December storms,” said Robert Lewis, DPW Director for Framingham.

Lewis says their salt trucks will begin pretreating the roads around 10 p.m. Monday night.

Then around 3 a.m., they expect the plowing to begin.

“We’ll plow and then we’ll salt as we plow to try to keep those roads clear before the ice pack starts,” said Lewis.

Local plow companies are also gearing up.

“Making sure the trucks are ready to go, making sure we have gas, making sure the lines are right, making sure the plows are right, making sure we have salt – and just ready to go, waiting for the snowflakes at this point,” said Jose Paredes, with Right Track Snow Removal.

They’re ready for the kind of business they’ve been waiting for all season.

“Whether it was three, six or twenty (inches), we’re just making sure we’re able to serve our customers correctly,” said Paredes.

Lewis says the goal is to try to clear as much snow as possible before the Tuesday morning commute, but it could be a mess in some areas.

“Be cautious if you have to go in, if you get an opportunity to work from home do that, but just don’t crowd the plows, give them a chance to do their work,” said Lewis.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
