1 person displaced after house fire in Ludlow, fire officials say

LUDLOW, Mass. — One person was displaced after a house fire on White Street in Ludlow on Saturday morning, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded to 53 White St. after receiving a 911 call at 8:12 a.m. from a resident reporting a fire on their porch that was spreading into the home, Ludlow Fire Chief Ryan Pease said.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire emanating from the rear of the single-family home.

While the outside fire was quickly extinguished, firefighters saw additional heavy fire coming from the attic of the home, Pease said.

Crews worked aggressively to extinguish the flames, about 25 minutes later, he said.

The American Red Cross also responded to assist the displaced resident.

Westover and Wilbraham provided mutual aid, and American Medical Response provided ambulance coverage at the scene. Three Rivers Fire Department provided station coverage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ludlow Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
