After not voting in presidential election, Gov. Baker to attend Trump's inauguration

BOSTON — After publicly saying he would not vote in the presidential election this year and declining to endorse either candidate, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker says he plans to attend Donald Trump's inauguration.

Baker made no secret of the fact he was unhappy with the presidential candidates, calling the election "one of the most troubling election cycles across the board I've seen in my lifetime."

But on Thursday, Baker's team announced he had accepted an invitation to the swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Donald Trump.

In a statement, a representative for Baker said, "the Baker-Polito Administration looks forward to working with the Trump-Pence Administration to address the most pressing issues facing our state, region and nation. The people of Massachusetts deserve a federal government that works collaboratively to solve those issues."

Baker said earlier this year he couldn't remember not voting for the Republican presidential nominee.
