1,800 bags of heroin along with other drugs seized in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass. — Eight arrests were made and 1,800 bags of heroin along with other drugs seized in Holyoke Thursday.

An investigation into recent heroin overdoses prompted the Holyoke Police Narcotics Vice Unit, Hampden County Narcotics Task Force, an FBI Gang Task Force, the DEA and ATF to execute two search warrants just after 3 p.m. at two apartments on West Street.

Detectives seized about 1,800 bags of heroin stamped with the words "drop dead," along with a large amount of cocaine, crack cocaine, a small amount of marijuana and various pills.

The following people were arrested:

  • Jose Rivera, 31, of Springfield on charges of conspiracy to violate drug laws; possession of class A (heroin); possession of class B (cocaine); possession with the intent to distribute class A; possession with the intent to distribute class B; and receiving stolen property over $250.
  • Adalberto Camacho, 33, of Holyoke on charges of possession of a class A substance (heroin).
  • Emmanuel Soto,  28, of Springfield on charges of trafficking class A (heroin) 36-100 grams; trafficking cocaine 36-100 grams; conspiracy to violate the drug laws; disorderly conduct; and resisting arrest.
  • Miguel Robles, 31, of Holyoke on charges of trafficking class A (heroin) 36-100 grams; trafficking cocaine 36-100 grams; and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.
  • Maribel Roman, 50, of Holyoke on charges of trafficking class A (heroin) 36-100 grams; trafficking cocaine 36-100 grams; and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.
  • Osmo Caraballo-Cruz, 39, of Holyoke on charges of trafficking class A (heroin) 36-100 grams; trafficking cocaine 36-100 grams; conspiracy to violate the drug laws; and default warrant.
  • Izaida Gonzalez, 24, of Holyoke on charges of trafficking in class A (heroin) 36-100 grams; trafficking cocaine 36-100 grams; and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.
  • Juan Antonio Gonzalez,  30, of Holyoke on charges of open and gross and disorderly conduct.

Juan Antonio Gonzalez was outside of the building as detectives were clearing the search warrants, police say, yelling at officers. He then exposed himself to several officers and residents.

All of the arrested suspects were set to be arraigned Friday.
