Police: Missing NH woman found dead in river near campsite

RAYMOND, N.H. — Police in Raymond, N.H. say a woman missing since Saturday night has been found dead in the Lamprey River.

Nicole Davis, 25, of Manchester, N.H. was last seen walking from her campsite at Pine Acres Campground on Freetown Road in Raymond near 11 p.m.

Police Chief Michael Lavelle announced Davis' body had been found Tuesday afternoon in the water. He said the circumstances of her death were still being investigated.

"We had information that she had consumed alcoholic beverages and walked away from her camp. When we were notified that she didn't return, that's when we started our search," Chief Lavelle said. "Obviously, we located her today. The river itself ... I don't know how long or how big it is ... it goes as far as Newmarket on the Sea Coast."

Police were asking for the public’s help in locating the woman who had not been seen since late Saturday night when she walked away from her campsite.

"Our condolences go out to the family," Chief Lavelle said Tuesday. "We're not sure where she may have entered [the water]."

He said civilians found Davis' body in the river and notified police, who identified her.
