City shuts down restaurants for numerous health code violations

BOSTON — Two Back Bay restaurants have been shut down by the city because of numerous health code violations.

Back Bay Sandwich and Café Med on St. James Street had their permits temporarily suspended last week.
Notices are now posted in the windows of both businesses.

The city said that it found food that wasn’t stored at proper temperatures, reports that employees were smoking and not washing their hands and there was even rodent feces in a basement storage area.

City inspectors will return to both restaurants to make sure the establishments are up to code before they can reopen.
