Boston 25 Weather

Weather Alert: Snow, rain, wintry mix tonight, Saturday morning

MELTING BEFORE MORE SNOW

We’ll stay dry though midday with a wintry mix arriving in Worcester around 1 PM and 3 PM in Boston. Initially roads will be wet, but expect a slushy, snowy, and even icy turn in many communities during the evening commute and tonight. The highest totals will fall north of RT 2 with 4-6″ along the MA/NH border and up to 8″ in the mountains. Little to no mixing with sleet is expected there.

Total snow/sleet will run slightly lower with 2-4″ along and north of the Mass Pike, with periods of rain and/or freezing rain mixing in at time.

Southeastern Massachusetts favors mostly wet roads due to mixing and milder temperatures. There may be a wintry mix at times and a nighttime coating (up to 2″ at most).

Although patchy, light snow will still fall Saturday morning it won’t add up to much more than a coating-1″ during the day. Keep your weekend plans in place!

MESSY MONDAY STORM

The track of the next storm is not set yet, but does appear to likely graze our area. The ocean storm is expected to intensify Sunday into Monday off the mid-Atlantic and east coast. We’d be in line for impacts throughout the day Monday with the current track with a plowable snow, gusty winds, and some degree of splashover or coastal flooding. In fact, it could end up snowing all day with a close enough track.

There is still a wide range is forecast totals according to various computer models. Southeastern MA is the most likely area to see heavy snow, potentially a foot or more. Snowfall amounts will be less heading inland and north. This is a situation where western MA might only get a few inches while the coast gets hit hard. CHECK BACK as details come into focus to stay prepared.
