WEATHER ALERT
A strong area of low-pressure dives through southern New England this afternoon and evening bringing heavy rain, damaging wind, and snow across the higher elevations.
We can expect pockets of heavy rain and damaging wind throughout the afternoon with more focus toward southeastern MA and the Cape as the afternoon progresses. To add insult, some snow and sleet may mix in with the rain, especially across the higher terrain with temperatures dropping into the 30s there, 40s for the rest of us. The gusty north/northeast wind will make it feel more like the 30s so bundle up if heading out! Snow isn’t expected to accumulate much, except across the mountains where temps will be closer to freezing.
Conditions will improve drastically overnight with decreasing clouds & a diminishing wind, but we will be left with chilly temperatures. Lows will dip into the 30s and 40s with a lighter wind from the northwest.
Much more tranquil Sunday with some morning sunshine and increasing afternoon clouds as another upper-level system moves into New England...a spot shower possible during the afternoon, but most of us will remain dry. Temps will be closer to average in the mid 60s to around 70, slightly cooler along the coast where we could see an onshore breeze develop.
Monday will feature clouds and sun with cooler than average temps as we begin Meteorological Summer...highs will reach he low to mid 60s with a few more spot showers and thunderstorms possible. Similar conditions Tuesday as we sit under an upper-level system keeping us a but unsettled. Looking drier Wednesday with temps in the 60s again.
