UPDATE: Woman identified in fatal Fitchburg fire

FITCHBURG, Mass. — A woman has died and two others were injured following a fire on Hartford St. in Fitchburg, Friday.

The woman is now being identified as 30-year-old Chelsea Ziemba.

When crews arrived on scene, they worked to rescue her from the second floor. Ziemba was transported from the scene and later died, according to a press release issued by the State Fire Marshal’s office, Friday night.

Two other people were able to escape the fire. Both were taken from the scene for medical treatment according to the Fire Marshal. There is no update on the conditions of these individuals as of Friday night.

“Investigators believe the fire began in a hallway on the first floor near the front side of the building.” according to Fire Officials.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
