Dozens of cars at Attleboro towing company go up in flames

ATTLEBORO, Mass — Flames billowed from the parking lot of an Attleboro towing company after dozens of vehicles were consumed in a massive blaze Friday.

Firefighters raced to Sterry Street Towing around 5: 16 p.m. after residents reported smoke billowing from the back parking lot.

Crews from both Attleboro and Pawtucket, Rhode Island had to fight the wind threatening to spread the fire into nearby neighborhoods.

Pawtucket Battalion Fire Chief David Cairro told WPRI 30 to 50 cars, four sheds and fence lines were engulfed by the flames. However, the fire didn’t reach any homes and all residents in the area were able to reenter their homes later in the evening.

No one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Massachusetts Fire Marshall’s office and the Pawtucket Fire Department.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
