Police identify 21-year-old killed after plunging car off Menauhant Beach into ocean in Falmouth

FALMOUTH, Mass. — State Police are investigating a fatal crash after a car plunged into the water off Maneauhaunt Beach in Falmouth.

Falmouth Police and Fire responded to a single-vehicle crash at Central Ave and Menauhant Rd. just before 9:30 Sunday morning.

Police said the driver, James A. Koshivos, 21, from Grafton, died from injuries sustained during the crash. There were no other occupants in the vehicle, according to police.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling south on Central Avenue, failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed over Menauhant Road, crossed over Menauhant Beach, and landed in the water on its roof, police say.

The crash remains under investigation by the Falmouth Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section.
