BROCKTON, Mass. — A shaken mother is thankful her little boy is okay after three men told the 12-year-old to get inside their car.
The boy told FOX25 he had the scare of his life Saturday afternoon in Brockton.
"I was walking up the street. Three Hispanic males came up to me in a greenish Jeep and said, 'Your mom is looking for you,'" the boy told FOX25's Malini Basu.
The quick-thinking boy foiled the attempted abduction and scared the men away.
“[They] said come on in, your mom said,” the boy said. “I said what’s my mom’s name, and they said Ashley. I said no, my mom’s name is Nicole.”
The child told then took out his phone and called his mom, who was preparing dinner at home.
“To hear his voice and to hear it once they were gone. Oh my god are they still with you? Do they have you?” Nicole told FOX25.
She ran out of the house to get her son.
“Always been my fear. Somebody ever kidnapped my kid, I don't know what I would do,” Nicole said.
Police say the attempted kidnapping happened on Cross Street near Eagle Avenue in Brockton, not far from Westgate Mall. Police told FOX25 that the suspects are still on the loose.
