BOSTON – One person is dead after being hit by a dump truck while riding their bicycle in Dorchester.
The crash happened on Cottage Street just before 2 p.m. Friday.
It’s unclear exactly what happened, but police spent several hours on the scene investigating.
The crash happened at the entrance to a busy construction company.
“I see dump trucks drive through here almost every five or ten minutes it seems like,” neighbor Craig Curley said.
Police say the truck belongs to Ace Trucking out of New Hampshire, and the driver stayed on the scene. That driver was eventually taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The construction yard belongs to Albanese D&S, a company that offers construction services for non-residential projects including work for the Boston Water and Sewer Comission.
“Boston Water and Sewer Commission has a contract with Albanese D&S General Contractor for water and sewer work. BWSC extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family. We are cooperating with the proper authorities, and due to the ongoing investigation, will not have further comment at this time," a statement from Boston Water and Sewer said,
The victim still has not been identified, but family members tell Boston 25 News he was a photographer and aspiring model for Dorchester who supplemented his income delivering food on his bike.
